Our Extra-Curricular Highlights
Debating and Public Speaking
Students at Paterson Public School develop confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills through public speaking and debating. They participate in classroom activities and have opportunities to compete in local and state competitions, building teamwork and persuasive skills along the way.
Leadership Opportunities
Our amazing Year 6 Captains and Vice Captains had the opportunity to represent Paterson Public School at the GRIP Leadership Conference in Newcastle.
Throughout the day, students developed their leadership skills, explored the importance of teamwork, and discovered ways they can make a positive impact within our school community. It was a valuable experience that inspired our student leaders to lead with confidence, responsibility, and respect.
Technology/3D Printing
At Paterson Public School, students have the opportunity to explore and create using our 3D printer. Through hands-on projects, they develop important technology skills, including design thinking, problem-solving, and digital creativity. These experiences help prepare students for future learning in STEM and encourage innovation in a fun and engaging way.
Creative and Performing Arts
Paterson Public School offers a vibrant Creative Arts program, giving students opportunities to shine in music, dance, drama, and visual arts. From whole-school performances to Education Week celebrations and events like Starstruck, students are encouraged to express themselves, build confidence, and develop their artistic talents in a fun and supportive environment.
Gardening Club
Students at Paterson Public School have the opportunity to join Gardening Club every Wednesday at lunchtime. Through hands-on activities, students learn how to plant, care for, and grow a variety of flowers, vegetables, and native plants while developing teamwork, responsibility, and an appreciation for the environment. Gardening Club is a fun and rewarding way for students to connect with nature and contribute to the beautification of our school grounds.
SRC Student Voice Team
Our Student Representive Council (SRC) is a key part of our HPGE and student voice commitment at Paterson Public School. The team includes our school leaders, Aboriginal student representatives and one student from each class. Together, they meet to share ideas and ensure students have a strong voice in shaping our school community.
