Stories and highlights
At Paterson Public School, we are proud to be a close-knit learning community that values connection, culture, and collaboration. Nestled in the heart of a supportive rural community, our school fosters strong relationships between students, families, creating a nurturing environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to thrive.
We celebrate our students’ diverse strengths and talents through a wide range of opportunities. Events like NAIDOC Week and Education Week allow us to honour cultural heritage and inspire a love of storytelling, learning, and identity. Our commitment to High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) ensures all students are challenged and supported to achieve their best across academic, creative, physical, and social–emotional domains.
Sport plays an important role at Paterson PS, promoting teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through regular school events and representative opportunities.
Our Creative Arts programs are vibrant and inclusive, encouraging students to explore their creativity and develop confidence through self-expression. Whether it’s performing in Star Struck, showcasing talent in our Visual Arts initiatives, or moving to the rhythm in our energetic Dance club, students are given the opportunity to shine and develop their artistic passions.
We proudly support student voice through our active Student Representative Council (SRC), which leads initiatives that make a real impact on school life and connect students to their community.
Through innovative programs like Project Humble and Maplewood Permaculture our students learn the value of sustainability, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship. These hands-on projects encourage responsibility, curiosity, and care for the world around us, transforming small ideas into meaningful change.
At Paterson Public School, learning goes beyond the classroom. We are a community where students grow with purpose, celebrate culture, and build lasting connections—ready to take on the opportunities of tomorrow.

Gold Success in WriteOn 2024 Parker, in Year 3, was honoured to receive a coveted Gold Award for his short story “The Brush Followed” in the 2024 WriteOn competition. From a field of over 740 entries across NSW, Parker was one of 6 students in the Stage 2 category whose work was recognised with this special prize.
“When I heard that my story had won Gold, I was astounded. I didn’t think I would win anything, let alone be one of the lucky entries to be published in The Best of WriteOn 2024,” Parker recalls.
He is pictured with Greg Warren MP at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where the Award Ceremony was hosted by NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority).

A huge well done to Ava from Year 4, whose beautiful artwork was selected as the winning design for the Minister’s Christmas Card Competition last year!
